Zojirushi EJ-PC50 Gourmet Food Steamer

Decent rice, excellent vegetables, questionable fish.
This is the only steamer I have experience with so I don't know if it's better or worse then others. It cooks decent rice in less time than a Zojirushi Neuro Fuzzy rice cooker which I also own. Rice cooker results are more predictable and you can make a lot of rice in a large rice cooker. The steamer is less sophisticated but if you only cook 2-3 cups of rice, this steamer is all you need. Vegetables come out very good but you need to watch them, because every vegetable requires different cooking time. Overall I like this steamer but these are some negatives: 1) If you steam a lot of vegetables the bottom water collection tray may overflow. 2) In summer time in hot and humid climate, more steam in the kitchen is the last thing you want. 3) When I use a tray for steaming fish, it collects water, and fish sometimes comes out boiled rather than steamed. Regardless of the above, this is a good way to prepare food and sometimes the only way.

Functional and easy-to-clean equipment.
This is a neat kitchen tool...easy to use and clean! I've used it several times for steaming green beans and I will probably use it only for steaming veggies, rice and other food that don't have a strong smell (Asian dumplings and buns, custard, etc). I'd be a little wary of cooking fish in it just because the "fish" smell may be difficult to wash off.

Easy to Use and Food is Great!!
I have used this several times since my purchase a month ago. It's very easy to use and clean. The veggies turn out wonderful. I have not used this for rice but it looks easy enough as well. I like having two bowls to work with. I think it's plenty big for a family of four. Many more than that and you might want to use a larger steamer. The directions recommend not adding any seasonings to the veggies (in the water) but I found that you can add to the veggies directly and they are still very good.

Top Quality By KALORIK RED FOOD PROCESSOR

It's ok
I like the processor itself. It works well and does its job. I've had it for a year and have never had a food processor before, and I never knew what I was missing! I love the slicing attachment, but I can't run it without a lid, and a regular sized potato won't fit down the chute.

The worst part is, the bowl fell out of the cupboard this morning and cracked! This $100 item is now worthless because I can't seem to find the parts sold separately!

No more Kalorik for me!
I purchased this unit thinking, it having been made by a German company, the engineering on it must be good. WRONG! The tub is a dark smoke color & you can't see through it, hence you can't see the progress of your food processing! Oh my goodness, did they forget to take this to the test kitchen before sending it to China for manufacturing? This is going into the garbage.

Nordic Pure 18x18x1M12-12 MERV12 AC Furnace Air Filter, Box of 12

Surprisingly high quality
I was a little concerned about buying a dozen filters at over $100 without trying one first. I've been very pleasantly surprised. They are every bit as good as, if not better than, the Filtrete "Micro Allergen" filters that I normally use (which cost about 50% more.) These filters are structural sound, in fact, I think they are more sturdy than the Filtrete filters. That is the characteristic that I was most nervous about as I've previously had discount filters (from other manufactures) buckle and collapse inside my ducts. The filtering media itself also appears to be high quality. I've had them installed for several weeks now and everything appears to be working well. I will definitely buy Nordic Pure filters again.

Dr. Weil 9803 The Healthy Kitchen 48-Ounce 2-Speed Blender with Glass Jar

It's OK but you need to know a couple things...
My wife and I noticed on first use that the motor emitted an electric-ozone smell. It might be oil in the motor windings left over from the manufacturing process, but if it's ozone from arcing brushes, it wouldn't bode well for long life under heavy use. We don't use a blender very often, so the smell hasn't gone away yet after several uses. My wife later called me for help to remove the cutter for cleaning. It just refused to come out. The manual says to insert the provided removal tool into the cutter base and turn clockwise to release it. Look out, you have the potential for a carpal-tunnel injury and potential unit breakage here, because the user's manual has it backwards: If you instead turn it counter-clockwise as would be most logical (looking down at the bottom of the inverted bowl) it will release with just about the amount of resistance you'd expect. While blenders in general are dangerous if misused, I also get bad vibes from a warning in the manual saying that if...

not to be used by children!
Just bought this at a discount store. Solid. Sleek. Powerful. Easy to clean. Definately worth what I paid - almost half what they are asking here.

Please: PUT THE LID ON THE JAR BEFORE PLACING IN THE BASE. PUT IN THE BASE, THEN PLUG THE UNIT IN!! I was going to clean it by the recommended method - couple drops of dishsoap and some warm water and take it for a spin. Made the stupid mistake of plugging it in and then putting the jar on the base (I did not read the instructions!). But, hey...my kitchen needed a good wipe down, anyway...nice warm soapy water all over me and the kitchen. I laughed out loud and was sooo glad I had only soapy water in it! This was my stupidity, yes - to a point.

I did notice the off-putting smell mentioned by other posters. I suspect it will go away with time - or at least is not an indicator of problems to come. I have noticed this type of thing with other new appliances, as well.

Overall, I am pleased so far. If...

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT
The motor emits a weird smell, and the buttons don't work properly. I have bought several Dr Weil products and they're all disappointing.

Westinghouse 7876300, Wengue Chrome 30" Ceiling Fan with Light

I. Hate. This. Fan.
I've never heard anything more painful to my eardrums than the throbbing humming sound this fan makes. My electrician seemed to think it was some kind of resistor for slowing the fan when it's not on high. I already paid to install it, and I will have to buy another one and go through this process all over again. Most disappointing and frustrating purchase I've made in years.

Barely adequate, overpriced
If you really need a small fan with a light kit, this works and assembly & install was easy. It hums -- the slower the speed, the more it hums -- and wobbles. Moves enough air to cool on high, but medium is not quite enough given the extra noise, and low is unnoticeable -- except for the humming. Light output is as expected for 80 watts incandescent through a frosted globe -- subdued. Appearance coordinates with the room, and the small size is nice, but I expected more for almost $120.

Dinosaur fanatic child so I didn't bother returning it, but it arrived in about 50 pieces. The egg was unidentifiable, but the chocolate dinosaurs seemed in tact inside a plastic bag inside the egg. Black and Decker SKG110 B D FRY PAN 12""""-NONSTICK

Inferior product
This Black & Decker electric skillet is an inferior product. Twenty days after purchase, the lid shattered during cooking, scattering glass across the food and nearby counter. Two calls to the customer service line were cut off before talking to a live person. E-mail to same have not been responded to after five days. In addition, heat across the surface of the pan is extremely uneven. Needed a replacement for a 10 year+ Presto pan that was loosing its non-stick effectiveness. Have already ordered a Presto replacement!

Worst skillet I ever bought
Cooks uneven. Tried to make pancakes in this and in burns everything on one side and undercooks on the other side.

Don't waste your money on this product!

STX INTERNATIONAL STX-DEH-600W-W Dehydra 600-watt 10-Tray Food and Jerky Dehydrator with 4-Drawer Blank and 2 Silicone Mats for Fruit Roll-Ups

I love it!
I had been looking at food dehydrators for 2 months, trying to make my decision, which was hard, as this one had no reviews and I count on the customer reviews to help me decide on whether or not something is a good buy. It is hard to spend this much money on something and not know what you all think about it. But... I really wanted a square one, with a rear fan, and a 10 tray one, but the Excaliber was so expensive, and the reviews were iffy in the sound area and in the temperature control area. (I actually bought this from E-Bay, (better price and freebies too) and they have reviews, but I don't know if I can count on their review system like I can Amazon's. Anyway, I took the plunge and bought this beauty, I think that the smaller size of the holes in the trays were what made the decision for me, along with the $100+ difference in the price, and the free silicone liner sheets. It is quiet, efficient, and I just love it. It came with 3 free silicone liner sheets for fruit...

Inexpensive, easy to use and great service!
I thought I wanted an Excalibur but I couldn't afford one and I came across this dehydrator. After alot of thought I went ahead and got it, and it works great! My food dries evenly and easily, I can't imagine that the excalibur does anything better. It is easy to load and has lots of surface space.

Also the service is top notch! One of my trays was cracked when I recieved it and they sent me out 2 new trays right away, free of charge and with just one email. I highly recommend this deydrator if you are serious about dehydrating and want to save some money at the same time!

Pretty good entry-level unit
I bought this unit about 6 months ago, and was also hesitant to make the purchase without seeing any reviews. But, I figured for the relatively small investment I couldn't go too far wrong. It's a little tricky for me to evaluate the unit, since I've never owned a dehydrator and I have nothing to compare to. It definitely meets my expectations though. It works just fine, although it is a fairly loud. At first I had it on my counter, just outside my living room and I had to move it to another room because we couldn't hear the TV over all the racket! Now it's in a small pantry where I can close the door. This is an inconvenience, but I don't know if an Excalibur model would be any quieter. I also like the fact that it comes with 3 silicone liners, that's a big plus. When I ordered mine, it didn't come with the 4-drawer blank, which is a great idea. If I need to remove trays, I just drape some tin foil over the opening and tuck it into an empty tray, which works fine. In my opinion,...

Oster 006058-000-000 6 Slice Toaster Oven - Stainl

Works great
We have had this toaster oven for several months and couldn't be happier with its performance. It is great when we don't want to use our large oven. We use it to toast bagels and the settings let you get them just right from lightly toasted to dark with one touch. It does take a couple minutes to heat but we set it, put in the bagels and hit start. A couple minutes later they come out perfect. If it is speed you want buy a regular 2 slice toaster. This is much more versatile than a toaster and you can make anything from pizza to chicken in it. Great product.

Black & Decker TRO620 4 Slice Toast-R-Oven

Infuriating and dangerous, Part 2
I am reading toaster oven reviews because this B&D TR0620 is the oven I want to replace. It still works, but life is too short to endure the aggravation factors.

As the previous reviewer reported accurately, the oven stays on after I believe I have turned it off (and after I have tried my best to turn it off and failed). This is unacceptable. So for safety reasons, I try to remember to keep the oven unplugged at all times when I am not actually using it. But here is the "Gotcha!:" The ON count-down knob with the timer works -- LOUD tick-tick-tick-tick -- without power! More times than I want to admit, I have inserted bread, twisted the ON knob to "Medium," and turned my attention to other parts of the meal while the toaster oven tick-tick-ticks away and then, DING! turns itself off. But when I finish the other preparations and return to the toaster oven, I find plain untoasted bread because all the knobs and noises worked even though the oven was not plugged in. That was...

Older model infuriating and dangerous
I see from the photo that TRO620 has been re-designed since we bought it a bit over 2 years ago... there is an extra knob, which I hope helps it work better than ours has. We chose it because our previous toaster over was a Black and Decker and worked the best of any we'd ever owned, and for its size and sleek appearance (always a mistake). From the outset it was a lousy toaster -- burned some parts before other areas had begun to brown. As an oven or broiler, similar problem: a hot spot in the upper element always scorched the top of the food before the rest was done. And from the outset, the toaster controls were difficult to use: you had to twist the very stiff timer knob past 10 minutes, then twist it back to the toast setting area on the timer (approx. 2-5 minutes, corresponding to light-dark), remembering also to set the oven temp control to 450/toast. At the end of the toast cycle, the unit would ding and turn itself off, but if you noticed that the hot spot was burning the...

Junk
I replaced our older B_d oven when the old one quit after 5 years of heavy use . The issue started the first day, the rack was uneven, almost half an inch off. I tried to return it to Walmart, but they told me this was a Black and Decker warranty issue. Black and Decker told me whis was an issue for thie model. I was to send it back UPS, $29.00, and it would be replaced/or repaired within 5-6 weeks, then returm it to me. We paid $29.00 then another 29?? For warranty on a known issue>
Stay away from these toaster ovens, Black and Decker knows about the issue and is selling them that way, they know most people won't pay the $29 to return it. Guess what I had a Walmart clerk open another box for me.It was the same way.!!!!!!

Rosewill R-HAP-01 Electric 4 Liter Auto Feed Hot Water Boiler and Warmer Dispenser

Perfect for Ramen Noodle lovers
I purchased this hot water dispenser about a month ago because it had a large capacity (4 liters)at an excellent price. I have never owned a "hot pot" before, but I was hoping this would keep up with our wintertime hot water needs since I have 7 kids.

Rosewill is a brand I have purchased before and I know they have a very responsive customer service department in case I have a problem.

This is not a small appliance and will take up some room on your counter. It is 15" tall and about 10 1/2" deep at the top. The sides of the exterior are silver colored metal, the top is white plastic, and the interior is stainless steel. There is a window on the front which allows you to see the water level at a glance. The controls are sealed buttons on the top. It also has a swivel feature on the bottom which is so convenient.

I got this so that my family could easily and quickly make hot tea, hot chocolate and ramen noodles. Since it safely dispenses water up to 208...

Rust rust rust!
We bought this product to help prep baby formula and within 1 month we noticed rust forming at the bottom of the heater. Also, the water gauge was broken when we received it. I noticed there was another review with the same rust issue. The price is alluring but stay away from this cheap product!

QC Needs To Be Improved
1st unit DOA, 2nd unit (replacement) has been functioning properly into the 4th hour.

1st unit's defectiveness:
1. Water could not dispense at all.
2. Its lid was harder to close and, when closed, had larger gap around the lid's rim if compared with the 2nd unit.

For the price, it is a good dispenser, having adjustable temperature, electric dispense motor, safe lock, and large capacity. Nevertheless, QC doesn't seem to be very consistent. As for the rust issue mentioned in other reviews, I'd need to wait and see.

-----Below Is For RMA Experience (*The item's star rating is not affected by the experience)-----

Norpro Thermal Air Pot

So far so good.
Paid 14 bucks. The quality is not that good, but it is working so far. If you don't want to spend much, this bottle is a good choice.

First one defective, second one broken
I have been looking for a reasonably priced airport that will hold the majority of a pot of coffee. Saw this one and ordered it. It is almost 2 liters so was what I was looking for. It came and was really nice looking...just what I wanted! However, I filled it with hot water and proceeded to try it out. The pump part just didn't work--after pumping numerous times, it would only pump a small amount of liquid. Not good! I called Amazon on Wednesday evening and they had a replacement delivered Friday by FedEx. Unfortunately the replacement had a broken glass liner. It was not very well packed...it had shipping air pillows around it, but most of them had no air in them--not much good! I opened the airpot though and the removable pump part looked completely different. Now I wish I hadn't taken the prior one to be returned quite so soon! Called Amazon again and they could not send another replacement. They suggested I could order again. Now I am waiting for my refund to be credited...

12V, Sauce Pan and Popcorn Maker

Does a great job for somebody on the go!
I bought this for my son who is an over the road truck driver. He was a bit skeptical at first but it has exceeded both of our expectations. The info on this pan says that it takes 10 + min per 8 oz. of food but he called me the first time he used it and had heated an entire 18 oz. can of Progresso chicken sausage gumbo in about 6-8 minutes. He has figured out that if he has the truck running (slightly more oomph to the outlet) he can even bring water to a boil and cook pasta. Last night was spaghetti in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Though he would prefer a microwave, this will do the trick until he has a truck with an inverter and microwave. He plans on trying the skillet and we will rate it later. Well worth the money. I would recommend this to anyone on the road who doesn't want to eat out constantly. He puts some water in the pan when done cooking and lets the water get hot while he eats. Then he is able to easily clean the pot.

Works fine
Heats soup very well. I've scrambled eggs with no problem. It will heat water to the verge of boiling (tiny bubbles). Heats faster when I wrap a towel around it to help hold in the heat.

I've been using it for 3 years. I immersed it a couple times cleaning it. That eventually caused the connections at the element to rust. It's easy to take apart and clean those connections. I don't recommend this unless you know what you're doing. It's not difficult but if you don't know which end of the screwdriver how to use, the results could be very dangerous.

The only real downside to this product is that it's not non stick. Eggs stick to it like nobody's business. However, cleanup is as easy as putting in 2 cups of water and letting it heal up. The stuck on food will soften up and wipe right out.

Fast Food Eliminator
I use this almost daily for weeks at a time, and I love this product so much! It has saved me so much money because I no longer need to buy fast food. Here is a list of things I like to cook in it. Pasta Roni, Mac N Cheese, Lipton Sides Pasta Packets, Tuna Helper, boxed scallop potatoes, powder mashed potatoes, All kinds of different plain pasta noodles with Jar Sauce, Oat Meal, and even fried spam slices in it. This unit can fry things but space is very limited for frying. Also I notice when following cooking directions, I some times have to add up 10 more mins of cooking time. But for running off of 12 volts I feel that's acceptable.
*******UPDATE 5-09-13
Had to take apart bottom piece (easy only 1 screw to remove) and remove a clip that connects the power cord to internal coil and connect directly to coil bypassing the clip. George Foreman GRV80 Contemporary Grill with Extended Handle

Grills well
This is my fifth George Foreman grill. It is the largest I've purchased over the years. I use the grill several times a week. It heats well and food grills uniformly. I find this particular model to be easy to use and it has held up better than the cheaper models. My biggest issue with all of the grills I've purchased is the cleaning. The plates don't come off, so you have to be careful when washing them so that you don't get water where it shouldn't go. The grills are made well, so it is pretty hard to get water inside the apparatus, but it is still a bit of a chore to scrub. Highly recommended if you want something that will quickly grill a juicy piece of chicken, vegetables and more.

Best money I have ever spent!
I just got my george foreman contemporary grill today! On the picture it looks white but its really silver. I've already cooked chicken, shrimp, salmon, corn on the cob, and a quesadilla. It's awesome! Soo much fun! Cooking surface is 80 sq inches and it's small enough to fit on our kitchen counter without looking too bulky but big enough to cook for me, my wife, and my 5 year old son. I tend to over cook my food because i haven't gotten used to it cooking soo fast but I'm starting to figure it out. I think I'm going to start preparing my food in the morning (marinating meats, cutting vegetables and whatnot) to cut down cooking time even more! Cleaning is simple enough...just wipe down the hot grill with a sponge and dry off with a kitchen towel. Me and My wife are on a diet so this grill is going to make it easier to keep us on track! Highly recommended to anyone!

Great
You won't find a negative comment here. I love the size and the ease of clean up. Other commenters stated that placing a wet paper towel on it and closing it after cooking allowed for easy clean up. They were 100% right. My poor oven and stove are going to start feeling more and more left out. Love it!

Whynter BR-125SD Beverage Refrigerator, Stainless Steel

Great looking can fridge unit that works well.
Whynter BR-125SD Beverage Refrigerator, Stainless Steel

We run a small cafe and were looking for a a couple of display fridges that we could use to retail sodas to go. This looked great in the pictures and turned out even nicer than expected. The description says 117 cans but we actually managed to squeeze in 118 cans into the fridge through a little clever positioning.

It took awhile to get cool, but got down to a very nice frosty level after running it overnight. The more you put in the longer it takes obviously. I noticed one of the units not getting as cold as our other units and realized that we placed it too close to the wall blocking the back ventilation. Moved it out a few inches and it worked as hoped. Another thing we realized about glass doors is that any direct sunlight will keep trap heat in the unit. That's the one drawback, but they sure look good. Just keep it out of sunlight...

Cold Fridge that Looks Great
Whynter BR-125SD Beverage Refrigerator, Stainless Steel

Very excited that my wife got this just in time for our SuperBowl party. We hold a small party every year and my old fridge just passed away last month.

The capacity of this fridge is huge, I just kept going and going and it still had space. My beer was getting a little too cold but I finally found the temperature control on the inside of the fridge near the light. Set it perfectly and everything is good now. What I like is that stainless door comes with a nice handle which makes the overall look quite sharp. The glass door is something I've never had before but it's a really nice feature that never occurred to me.

I use it under a counter but noticed that the unit vents from the back, just make sure there's space in the back for it to breathe and I think it'll be fine. The light in the fridge doesn't really do much for it,...

beautiful showcase!
I'm not using this refrigerator for beverages, I'm using it for aging hard cheese. I love it. It takes a bit of adjusting for the correct temp, but with that and a bowl of water on the bottom shelf, my cheeses are doing great! With the light on it makes a great display.

Oster BLSTMP-A15 8-Speed 6-Cup Blender, Kiwi

Love this guy
I purchased this blender about 2 weeks ago and absolutely love it. The color is exactly as pictured, which makes it quite pretty on my counter. (I moved about a year ago and have finally decided to do the kitchen in yellow and turquoise, this teal is actually more of a turquoise.)

I've used this blender every day since I got it. I have a nightly smoothie, which is why I wanted a blender in the first place. This has entirely eliminated my nightly ice cream, saved me calories and carbs, and is helping me to eat healthier.

The blender is an Oster - the name says it all. Oster blenders are the best, and this little guy is no exception. I was a little concerned that by purchasing a less expensive model I would sacrifice some quality, but that was a needless worry. The container is high impact plastic which makes it lighter weight, this is good if you have a hard time lifting things (a problem for me sometimes when my arthritis flares). The wonderful "wave"...

Great blender! especially for the price!
This is a great blender! the pricepoint made me somewhat leery, bot Oster has great reviews so I decided to try it. I am quite happy with this purchase. I make smoothies twice a day, and this oster powers through like a champ.

example: yesterday I blended a half a papaya, 3 large bananas, a half cup of blueberries, a half a mango, and a half a cup of ice. Just threw it all in, hit the smoothie setting, and let it run for about a minute.

thus, far there are no cons to this. I'm not sure why other reviewers were unhappy with the lack of a lock. the jar sits nicely in the base and there are guards that actually do hold it in place when in operation.

in closing, if you're looking for something under $50, get this blender.

Oh and I have yet to smell the burning smell you get from some blenders, except when I failed to put adequate liquid in the smoothie and it was running with no resistance. but that's my fault.

Best Budget Blender!
As a college student, I am on a tight budget. I've bought cheap kitchen appliances before and have been disappointed. For under 30 dollars, you can not beat this blender. I mainly use it for smoothies/margaritas and it cuts through ice like a champ. I've only had it a few weeks, so I will see how it holds up, but for now I'm so happy with it. It comes in fun and exciting colors, I bought teal and get compliments from all my guests. It's easy enough to clean, and the cap of the top works as a measuring cup, which is a nice touch. Highly recommend this product.

Hamilton Beach 43254 Ensemble 12-Cup Coffeemaker with Glass Carafe, Black

No frills or drips coffee maker
Before purchasing the HB 43254 Classic Stainless 12 cup coffee maker I read the reviews like I normally do before making any purchase. I decided to purchase this coffee maker knowing that there may be some minor issues with it - what doesn't these days? After many years of buying coffee makers I have found there is no "perfect" coffee maker that will make everyone happy. You just need to decide what is important to you and your family. That said, after about three weeks of use I found it to be exactly what I was looking for - it makes HOT coffee, the carafe DOESN'T drip and I didn't need to use a manual to set up the clock and timer! If this is what you are looking for stop reading and purchase this unit now. Enjoy the coffee maker...

For those that really need to know more before purchasing continue reading:
- This coffee maker uses basket shaped filters. So you can give your neighbor your unused cone shaped paper filters you may still have.
- The water...

Well designed and user-friendly coffee maker
I purchased the Hamilton-Beach coffee maker after reading all its reviews on Amazon, and reviews for other comparably priced appliances. I had owned a Cuisinart coffee maker that died, but had been problematic all along, and I was reluctant to buy another of the same. Most of the H-B reviewers agreed about the product's benefits and drawbacks. The drawbacks were very few--there are some minor design flaws, but nothing egregious--and reviewers consistently agreed that the H-B made coffee at a very hot temperature and maintained that. That was what sold me on the H-B.

I have owned it for about six weeks now and have not been disappointed. I think the H-B coffee maker offers a good value and good design for its price. It doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles, but for me that's an advantage. I don't want a coffee maker that buys and grinds the beans, fills itself , and makes coffee at precisely 7.45 a.m. Those sorts of appliances have too many flaws, in my opinion...

Good Price - Good Coffee Maker
Keeps coffee hot
Large quantity of coffee
Carafe does not drip
Easy to fill and clean
Easy controls

For $50 I got what I wanted and it works well. No complaints... OK, so it looks a little boring, but I don't look at it much!

Paragon The Arctic Blast SnoCone Machine

Excellent value for the money
EDIT 07/23/09: Another month and another trade event. I made approximately 500-600 snow cones at this event and the machine performed perfectly without any problems at all. This machine is certainly well built and will serve you well. I can't recommend this machine highly enough.

ORIGINAL REVIEW FOLLOWS:

I bought this unit for a three-day trade event and it performed perfectly. I easily made back the purchase price of the unit without issue, so the price point on this item is wonderful.

The motor is strong and it crushes ice quickly if left at the factory setting. I found that the ice is a bit coarse for some people as calibrated at the factory, so I adjusted the blades to produce a VERY fine snow. The finer snow absorbs the flavorings much better than coarse ice and has a more "Italian Ice" look to it.

The instruction manual for the unit does not tell you how to adjust the blades, so I will tell you now:

1. MAKE SURE THE...

Great Machine, Easy To Use!
We purchased this machine to use for our parties especially childrens parties. This machine is rock solid, easy to use and makes sno-cone's with ease. FYI, we never used this type of machine before and honestly it doesn't matter if you did or didn't. It's pretty self-explanatory. Just do yourself a favor and buy good syrups. We used the Hawaiian Shaved Ice brand based on various recommendations and were they a hit!! Back to the machine, Paragon makes this machine like a rock. It's very stable and solid and clean up is a breeze but similar to other reviewers if you wish to use the drainage feature (hole in the back) get a longer hose and prop up the back of the tray to allow the water to flow out the tube. Otherwise, it just collects in the tray. This was of no consequence to us as we just tipped the tray and it's such a small flaw to an otherwise great machine!!

Paragon The Arctic Blast Sno Cone machine
So far so good. Creates nice snow. If I could design this better i would allow for the tray to be removed easier. the back door is nice. also the drain does not fully drain the tray.

Mugz the Ice Cream Maker (Penguin)

It really works....
I ordered this for something to do with my just 4 year old grandson. I had my doubts that it would work but figured it was worth a try. To my surprise it works. It only makes a small amount but that's all he needs. Yesterday we made vanilla ice cream with half and half, vanilla and a pinch of sugar. Today we substituted root beer extract for the vanilla. Yummy! We took turns shaking the cup. I think this would be educational for an older child. My grandson enjoyed filling up the sink and washing the parts too!

Fun Treat
This is a cute little product. My boys and I filled them with eggnog and it made delicious ice cream! It makes a very small amount, a couple tablespoons, but that can also be a plus for us as the kids get a treat without gorging on a bunch of sugar. I would recommend it

Great little gadget for little kids
We got this as a stocking stuffer for our 3 yr old twins. They love it!!! It Does only make a little bit at a time, but they love creating different mixes with their Dad for dessert each night. Better than super sugary store bought treats, and they're only having a little bit at a time without realizing it which works well for us.

KRUPS XP604050 Automatic Die Cast Pump Espresso Machine with Thermoblock System and Coffee Maker Combination, Sliver

We have had this 2 weeks....
After setting this up, priming, and running it for about a week, the frother would not froth the milk...it would boil the milk and spew water all over the place. I have cleaned the wand after every use so that is not the problem. Some steam is also released from the espresso side when trying to froth. Krups will not answer my emails and their customer service phone number has a recording that says they are closed (during business hours...) This machine is going back!

I read the reviews, I should have heeded them......
When we unpacked it - it looks great. The hinge on the door opening on the top of the machine broke after 4 days - but we liked the machine and wanted to give it a chance. Now, today - after only having it seven days the espresso maker is kaput - nothing happens when we flip the switch to start that part of the machine. We've reset by unplugging and repeating the process. I read the reviews on this and all the other combo coffeepot/espresso machines but thought, somehow we'd be exempt - if only. Now I get to package it all back up and return (the reviews were so bad I even kept the packaging in the event of a return). What a nightmare.

Sad and disappointed--would have given NO stars if I could have...
I purchased this item based on Krups coffee machines I have had and used in the past. They always make a great cup of coffee! This is true for the coffee side of this machine as well. The disappointment comes with the espresso side.

For some reason, the plastic materials used in its construction causes the espresso dispenser, the hot water dispenser/ milk frother all to be infused with not only a terrible plastic odor, but also a more than repulsive plastic flavor. I have used the product for a little less than a month in hopes that this plastic odor and flavor would dissipate, but sadly it has not.

I know someone else that bought this same machine at about the same time as me and he is experiencing the same exact issue with his machine.

We both called Krups, but got different responses. His call rendered a response that this issue has never arisen before with an offer to exchange the machine for another.

My call rendered a...

La Pavoni PA-1200 Napolitana Stainless Steel Automatic Espresso Machine

Barista
La Pavoni PA-1200 Napolitana Stainless Steel Automatic Espresso Machine

This is my third machine in 12 years. My first machine was a Krups Novo with a thermal heat block and a back pressure or modified filter holder. My second machine was a Starbucks Barista with a stainless steel boiler but also with a back pressure filter holders which produce a simulated espresso. The La Pavoni Napoletana is the real thing. You can't make or buy a better espresso.

This is an excellent espresso machine for the starter or the advanced barista. Heats up quickly and the heavy brass boiler, brass head and filter holder keep the machine ready for use. Consistently pulls espresso with a nice crema. The steam function provides plenty of steam to whip up thick frothed milk for cappuccinos. The grinder is easy to adjust maybe a little loud and holds enough beans for about 14 shots. The grinder isn't...

Best total value
Having used a roomate's decent Starbucks Barrista for a year, then suffering through a horrible Krups model (which I returned in disgust), I knew that when I finally got around to buying an espresso machine, I wanted a quality machine at a reasonable price. A strong pump and good innards are required to make an espresso with beautiful golden foam. I adore cappucino so require a good steamer that makes excellent foam. And I didn't have an espresso grinder (but know that proper fine grind is CRITICAL). No one knows coffee like the Italians, so buying one made there was also preferable. As I did my research the LaPavoni Napolitana fit all my requirements.

I am completely and utterly besotted with this machine! It is perfect for those looking for a quality machine without breaking the bank. As far as I'm concerned the makers didn't skimp on any essentials. Right from my first shot, this machine brewed the perfect espresso. It's very easy to learn and use. Also very easy...

I Love This Machine!!
I knew I had to have an espresso machine after using a friends Starbucks Barrista but that machine proved hard to find... guess it's discontinued, so I opted for a Starbucks Serena which was a huge disappointment!! I promptly returned the Serena and ordered the Napolitana instead.

I went out to meet the UPS truck, and as I signed for my new machine, the UPS lady let the box tumble down the stairs of her truck and onto the ground..urgh!!

I eagerly unpacked the new machine, plugged it in, followed the directions to prime it, got steam...but no pump!! I was so disappointed!! I started to fill out the Amazon return form, but decided to sleep on it. The next morning I pulled out a screw driver, thinking that something had jiggled loose from the poor UPS handling, and after removing 2 screws and carefully prying the top off, I found that the wiring harness had slid off the pump. I pushed it back on, marveled at the simplicity of the parts inside, and had it put back...

Continental Electricss CP43529 Stainless Steel Panini Grill

Panini Sandwich Maker Review
I am pleased with these Panini Grill. I use it a couple times per week to make sandwiches and it gets the job done every time.

It gets the meat and cheese nice and hot without burning the bread.

Perfect sandwiches
I got this for my mom as a Christmas gift. She was using a model that must have been 40 years old, but still worked. However, it looked like hell and the worn out cord was not encouraging either. I took the chance and got this one from one of the sellers outside of Amazon. It was shipped on time and the quality of the product is very good. This thing makes priceless toasted sandwiches, just like at the stores. Highly recommended. She loves it.

Nice little panini press
Me and my boyfriend love paninis and this press does the trick. It doesn't get really hot and you have to really press down to get the panini effect, but for the price I think it's perfect.

Electrolux EI24WC65G 24" Under-Counter Wine Cooler with Perfect Set Temperature Control and Luxury-De, Stainless Steel

Great machine!
Those who care about their electricity consumption, should really consider this unit. There are many units out there that are much cheaper and perhaps more practical in size, but this one is one of the few that have a published electricity rating. Some of its Marvel rivals are not energy certified/rated.

I did lots of research on wine coolers and things to look for when buying one, and I trusted consumer report that mentioned this unit to be least expensive in yearly energy consumption.

It uses 400kWh per year, so they calculated the average yearly cost to run the unit to be $47 on average. In NY, of course, it would be a double, but it is still good enough than paying $400+ a year for a dual temperature unit or a unit that is cheaper and more compact.

As the previous review stated, the unit is made in USA and Canada, which is refreshing. YAY!

In general, the unit is quite sturdy; although on a heavier side, its pieces/parts are not flimsy...

Electrolux Winefridge
We had looked for a wine fridge for a long time before settling on this particular one. Love the look and it holds as many bottles as it says it will. Love everything about it but the only reason I couldn't give it 5 stars is that it is a little loud when it is running. Definitely worth the money though!

Great appliance
Again, we spent time searching for an appliance made in the U. S. or Canada. All Electrolux products are in fact made in the U. S. or Canada, we loved this cooler so much that we bought other appliances made by them and love them all. Looks good, works good and does not require an engeneering degree to install and operate it.

Avanti WC681BG2 24 Freestanding Wine Cooler 166-Bottle Capacity

Good for 3 years
The cooler worked well for 3 years; however after 2 repair attempts it will become a storage rack. Parts are difficult to find since this is a China product. I will replace with a smaller better quality cooler. Even though the price is great, I recommend investing in a better quality unit.

So-So
We liked the features, we liked the price. It is less than 3 years old and now needs considerable repair and it seems like it will be the compressor. Total repair estimated at about half the original purchase price. The constant cycling, about every 20-30 sec from the get-go apparently is "planned" according to a repair person we had come out within 60 days and it was a silent on-off cycle at all. We will see whether the repairs work, or we, too will have a very large piece of junk.

Disappointed!
Thought I was getting a good deal when purchased. Unit worked fine for 2 years and stopped cooling. Found out not many folks work on these coolers but Avanti had one serviceman in my area to recommend. Paid about half of the original cost of the unit to get it "repaired." A year later, stopped cooling again. Service company came back, refilled with freon. 10 months later stopped cooling again. Now being told compressor needs replacing. If have done, will have more invested in repairs than the cost of unit. Avanti customer service has a lot of reasons they can't do anything but not many to stand behind product. I appreciate their free parts but the hourly service rate (plus freon, etc) is a killer. Since I am not real confident replacing the compressor will solve the problem, think I'll cut my losses and start looking for a better quality cooler.

Paraflex Disposable Parchment Paper Dehydrator Sheets - 12 X 12 - !00 Pack

Just okay
I bought these sheets since they were cheaper than the Excalibur Paraflex Sheets. They do the job but I feel they seem to be a little thin. When I first used them to make kale chips, the ends flapped a bit in the dehydrator, from the air.

They do the job well of not letting food stick but next time I will probably just use natural parchment paper.

Champion Juicer Screen Large Hole Screen

just the right size screen
this screen lets the right amount of pulp juice through the screen. Even though the machine was older and I didn't think I could get parts it was no problem

Creates foam
I thought that the larger holes in the screen would just let in small bits of fruits/vegetables in my juice. I juice carrots, apples and beets. The larger hole screen just produced more foam in the juice. I wanted juice and bits of produce in my juice, not more foam to drink. I didn't like it. So I just went back to the screen that came with my juicer.

Almost as pulpy as my Vita Mix!
I got this screen to allow a smidge more pulp into my juices that I prepare each morning. The apertures in this do just that so that my juices have the soluble fiber (present in the juice0 and now some of the insoluble fiber (usually in the pulp). I also have a VitaMix, and have used it over 25 years for smoothies, but I like the higher concentration of nutrients in juice at times. This produces about 1/4 as much insoluble fiber as a smoothie, so it's a good option for me when I don't want the heaviness of a VitaMix drink.

Mixer Plus

Nifty mixer
I cook a lot and was looking for a faster, less teary way to chop my onions. I did not want to spend a lot of money. The Mixer Plus's handle is a bit wobbly (of course, I'm not the handiest person around and I was the one who assembled it). But a few turns of the mechanical crank and the machine does pulverize my onions. The fact that I can use Mixer Plus as a blender is a bonus, and it's very easy to clean. It may not the very best machine I've ever cooked with, but it is an excellent value for the price.

Mixer Plus a Plus
This is a great little mixer. It takes a little effort to start the chopping and mixing process. After a turn or two it is almost fun to watch your new batch of salsa, etc. start forming.

This is a great kitchen gadget!
This is a great kitchen gadget. I use it to chop onions and make salsa. I also love it for chopping fruit when making jam. It is easy to use and there are so many ways to use it. A recipe book is included. My kids love to help me cook when I pull it out of the cupboard. My neighbors all have one and I am buying them for family now.

Quilted Sage Blender Appliance Cover

TOO SMALL FOR MY BLENDER
Reasonably priced appliance covers. Sage is as attractive as it appears online. I got this for an L'Equip R.P.M blender with an 8" base. Would have really appreciated dimensions so here they are: 6 1/2" L X 6 1/2" W X 16" H. Way too small, will probably send back. Gambled and lost. Lower rating than others reviewed because these are the only appliance covers for sale online with no dimensions. Believe me, I've shopped around.

Love it would recommend to everyone!
I purchased this item in the sage color. The quality is really good, the picture doesn't do it justice. The sage color is very clean and earthy. I especially love the wood ring detail. You cannot beat this price, I looked elsewhere, including eBay, and they run for over $25 dollars each. Plus they all look like something your grandmother "willed" you after she kicked it--in other words... NOT pretty. This cover is really cute, buy it, you won't be disappointed.

Very Happy With Cover
Very nice product and happy I bought it and would recommend it. Haven't tried to wash it yet so I will see.

Hamilton Beach 63232 Eclectrics Carmine Red All-Metal Stand Mixer

Very good, some caveats
We got this for our daughter who is a fairly new but really excellent cook with some formal training. She initially wanted a Kitchenaid, which she has used in cooking classes, and she liked the Kitchenaid model that raises the bowl up to the mixer unit because it's easy to add things to the bowl. We researched user comments at Amazon.com, Consumer Reports recommendations from their testing, and other info. The Kitchenaid (at least one model) is a top-rated unit but expensive and we were put off by the more-than-occasional reports of poor quality, failed gears, gear oil leaks, poor customer service, etc. The Hamilton Beach unit was at least as well-recommended, and had more consistently good reviews (albeit fewer user reviews than the ubiquitous Kitchenaid) and a much longer warranty period. Bosch makes a heavy duty stand mixer but it's rare and even more expensive than a Kitchenaid.

Interestingly, the Hamilton Beach unit was criticized by some users for, (1.) being too...

Good!
It has been one year and I like this machine. I use it mainly for kneadling bread dough. I have used 3 bread machine before, grey stuff stained the dough around the shaft paddle. This mixer knead the bread more elastic and the texture is much better. NO grey stuff staining my bread dough anymore.

The color I have is red.

Very good mixer
My wife loved this mixer. She has used for all kinds of preparations, and it makes it so much easier for her.

Black & Decker Lids Off Jar Opener JW200BM

I didn't know I really needed it.
I purchased this opener for my wife, whom even in our youth had trouble with jars. I, being the big, tough guy did not need such a product. I however have found that I am using it for opening jars every time. My arthritis would cause me some pain when I opened jars, so I have resorted to using this. It is so easy and painless!

It can sit on the counter for easy access. The power cord is real short, so you don't have any dangling to get in the way. It can normally sit in the collapsed state, where the top sits on the lower chrome sides. To use it, you press the release with your thumb and lift the top up. It catches in the open position. The tray that the jar sits on pivots. If it is pivoted all the way to the left, the grippers for the jar are in the maximum open position. You slide the jar onto the middle of the tray and pivot the tray to the right. The grippers close in around the jar. You then press the release and let the top come down on the lid. Finally, you press the...

I thought this was silly until I bought one
There is hardly a jar this won't open and easily. I have arthritis in my hands and used to ask my husband to open everything. Now I just put it in this jar opener and in seconds the jar is open. No jar is too tough.
Black & Decker JW400 Lids Off Open-It-All Center

Best Small Appliance Ever!
I got so tired of having to ask my husband to open a jar for me. I started looking on the internet for a product that could open jars. The Black & Decker Lid Off products are terrific. I use mine almost everyday and absolutely love it! I haven't had to get someone to help me open a jar in over a year. I would recommend buying the JW400. It also has the can opener attachment so you can replace your can opener with the Lid Off.

Better Chef IM-811R 5 Speed Red Turbo Mixer

Red!!
We have a perfectly serviceable GRAY mixer. She-who-rules wanted RED!!! This item has been a pleasant surprise. It not only works well, in every task it has been assigned, but is aesthetically pleasing as well.

Well..
A bit too powerful for my needs. Also, yes, it does smell when you use it. I'm used to it though because I have a blender from a different company that does the same thing. I think it has to do with being overpowered.

Beautiful Mixer
I absolutely love the red color of this mixer. I love that it has dough beaters included and the price was great. The only reason I marked it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I feel that the quality of the parts might not be the best. I am very careful when I insert the beaters into the mixer. Looks like those might not be the best. But so far it works great...super fast even without using the turbo that it has.

Chef's Choice M677SSG Cordless Electric Kettle-Stainless Steel Gray

Come back Russell Hobbs, all is forgiven....
I grew up in Europe with electric kettles so I think I know what to expect. I had to return the M677, as it took too long to turn off. I called their customer service and they said it should take an average of 12 seconds to turn off. The average for mine to click off was 1 minute and 15 seconds (timed only after coming to a vigorous boil with steam escaping). It didn't matter if it was full or not. Only once did it click off in less than one minute. Once I came downstairs and it was still boiling away, I was not sure for how long it was boiling so I decided to return it.

Giving them the benefit of the doubt (their customer service was good - a real human picked up in a few seconds), I replaced it with a model M678 which is a little larger, and its average click off time is 35 seconds. It still feels like it's too slow to click off and most of the time I flick it up manually, but at least I feel I can trust it to turn off if I leave the room. (My old dead Russell Hobbs would...

Good overall kettle
Right - this thing's a tank.

I've used this kettle at least once a day for the last six years now and I'm just now smelling burnt plastic when I try to use it. It's pretty much at the end of its life, but it still boils water much faster than the largest burner on my stove top. For the first five and a half years that I've owned this kettle, I've never had any problems with it. It's very portable. I used to constantly tote it back and forth from home to work.

I see only three shortcomings that keep this from being a GREAT kettle. Otherwise I have no serious complaints and would recommend this kettle.

The metal sides become very hot.

The cord's a bit finicky. It's hard to wind up out of the way, and once you do, it just unravels again.

The spout's overlarge. It's really easy to dump two cups of boiling water all over the place just trying to fill a small teacup. It's not so much a problem, as it is just plain annoying. You have to...

Works great for making a thermos of green tea
We have had this thing for most of a year now, and have used it every day to make a big pot of green tea. Here are some tips on doing that.

We bought a 2.2 liter pump thermos. Yes, this kettle is 1.7 liter, but wait. Every day we throw in 5 bags of green tea and a little less than a cup of cold water. Careful how you rip off the string so you don't open up the bags; we find that holding the staple between finger and thumb while pulling the string keeps the bag intact. We somewhat overfill this kettle (no sign of a problem ever) with water to the middle of the circle you'll see on the inside, bring that to a boil, and add it to the thermos.

With green tea you do *not* want to add boiling water, because it makes the tea bitter. But the bit of cold water you put in first brings the temperature down just enough, and adds enough volume that it fills the 2.2L container. That's one day of tea for the two of us -- imagine the antioxidants! Note that the tea...
